Young Artists Dialogue at CUCSH on the Relationship Between Art and Politics in Contexts of Violence

During his speech, Ángel R. Abundis examined the debate surrounding graffiti as art and proposed conceptualizing the city as an 'open book' and an urban stage undergoing constant symbolic, political, and cultural construction. He emphasized how local graffiti writers have formed communities of practice capable of engineering a semiosphere, a shared code, a lifestyle, and an identity that fills political voids within the urban public sphere.
